The 7km Wye Valley Greenway path opened April 2021 and links Wyedean School, Sedbury & Chepstow to Tintern.
The Wye Valley Greenway path offers walkers and cyclists a sustainable way to visit the beautiful Lower Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Starting at the National Diving & Activity Centre, the path winds its way along the disused Wye Valley Railway to the picturesque village of Tintern.
One of the highlights is the spectacular 1km Tidenham railway tunnel, easily accessible from the National Diving & Activity Centre.
Spearheaded by Greenways, the Wye Valley Greenway route has now been adopted by local volunteers. The team look after the route, ensuring it is used properly and closing the tunnel gates in the evening for the benefit of the bat population.
The path either side of the Tidenham tunnel is open for use 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Tidenham tunnel is open in the daytime from the 1st April until 30th September.
At other times the tunnel will be closed to protect the bat population.
The main access points for the Greenway are at the National Diving and Activity Centre and Tintern Wireworks bridge.
At the Southern end of the Wye Valley Greenway, Car parking is available at Wyedean School in Sedbury. Enter Wyedean school and turn left. Please do not park in the main school car park on school days.
We also have parking available at the National Diving and Activity Centre (NDAC) when the centre is open. (NDAC Opening Times are available here »)
At the Northern end of the Wye Valley Greenway, car parking is available in the Tintern Wireworks car park or near Tintern Abbey.
